Clean Coorg Green Coorg

As part of our corporate responsibility we support Coorg, one of the most serene coffee scapes of India, to be a ‘plastic free’ zone. Madikeri, the capital town of the popular coffee destination was suffering the ravages of tourism and was rapidly deteriorated where garbage disposal was concerned. As part of the ‘Clean Coorg Green Coorg’ campaign we pressurized the local authorities to declare the destination as a ‘no plastic’ region, so travellers are mindful of the environmental hazard that plastic can cause. Ever since, Madikeri has seen much lesser plastic and garbage in the region, making the town shine with its original glory. Apart from this we also started some initiatives for travellers to explore Coorg in a carbon footprint free manner. The cycling tours emerged from this idea.

Why Cycling Tours?
Coorg provides a perfect environment required for cycling – spectacular landscapes, a mixed terrain, good roads and vast opportunities to meet locals in villages while seeing the place slowly. It also helps the locals in small villages by converting their houses into home stays on the itinerary of cycling tour.

Responsible Tourism & Innovative Tourism

The idea of Cultural tourism, Adventure tourism, Medical Tourism, Spiritual Tourism, Beach tourism and others has gained ground in India. We are focussed on Responsible Tourism & Innovative Tourism to enhance a travel experience, which in turn is likely to have a positive long-term effect on the local communities.

Responsible Tourism
The idea of tourists seeking to get engaged in responsible tourism activities while on the move has shown a tremendous growth in tourism business. Creating an environment for locals helps them to sustain their livelihood. Nothing can beat the satisfaction earned while helping a community. Today’s traveler is more concerned about his society and wants to give back a fair share of his or her earning. This can be done in many ways -from helping the community to building schools, medical centers, extending help to animals or associating with conservation projects – there is something for everyone. More so, there is tremendous learning with this.

Innovative Tourism
Undoubtedly, innovation is one of the longest standing business mantras – a key that unlocks growth. Innovative tourism usually involves a series of small steps that lead to incremental growth, of which the most common outcome is new product development. Embracing this thought, we design our 15-day Rajasthan relief adventure to create meaningful interactions between the travelers and local residents. We organize Medical Camps in the remote villages of Rajasthan, in consultation with the local administrative body. On an average we set up one such camp every alternate day. The information about a forthcoming Medical Camp is given in advance to all the residents of all the villages within a 10 km radius, thereby ensuring maximum participation.

Action For Autism (AFA)

Action For Autism is a national level not-for-profit establishment that strives to access the rights of individuals with autism and their families. Started in 1991, AFA has made a significant impact both on services as well as information currently available on autism. AFA's founding philosophy is quite contrary to commonly held perceptions of disability. AFA does not view autism or disability as a tragic condition, but rather as a different way of being. As a result the AFA family of parents is enabled to look beyond their children and at Action for Autism the wider community; and its exceptional professionals imbibe the AFA philosophy of loving, accepting, and employing people without judgments.

AFA is involved in a wide range of services that employ people with autism and their families. These include advocacy, research, training, education, awareness, and resource provision. The Aadhar Vocational Centre at AFA is a production-oriented sheltered workplace where young adults with autism utilize their previous training for work, enhancing their independence, self-reliance, and confidence. The products made at Aadhar are sold through direct sale to consumers, institutions and exhibitions. The entire revenue generated from the sale of these products are ploughed back into purchasing raw materials for fresh production and paying a stipend to the young adults who work there. Aadhar- the first of its kind in India is an important step towards enabling individuals with autism lead a life of dignity that is meaningful and fulfilling.

The Purkal Youth Development Society

Purkal Youth Development Society is based out of Dehradun in the state of Uttarakhand, for the past 10 years. This is a charity that is focused on improving the lives of the underprivileged rural youth through education. A part of this education is aimed at sensitizing the children in matters of the environment, especially those concerning the Himalayan region.

They aim to help this rural community access quality education. They achieve this through mentoring, along with attention to nutrition and healthcare. The faculty is made available exclusively to the poorest. Effective delivery of education is focussed on the girl child and they use enjoyable and meaningful ways. The establishment also ensures that the community at large is sensitive to the development needs of the children. The belief is that if bright youth in this rural community were supported in this manner, they would instill newfound hope and become agents of change and catalyze other youth and bring about transformation through demonstration.

Indo Asia Tours remain committed towards safe, honourable and sustainable tourism.

In an effort to strengthen our commitment towards a more sustainable world, the company has taken a pledge towards safe, honorable and sustainable tourism, an initiative by the Ministry of Tourism. SAFE AND HONOURABLE TOURISM:- To leverage the burgeoning global travel and trade and in keeping with the Indian tourism industry’s objective of positioning India as a global tourism brand, the Ministry of Tourism has strategically outlined in its policy the central principle of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ (Guest is God). In stating this, is evident the commitment of Indian tourism to ensure that every tourist in India is physically invigorated, mentally rejuvenated, culturally enriched, and spiritually elevated. To meet this objective and at the core of the National tourism, policy is outlined the seven pillars of tourism, Swagat (Welcome), Soochana (Information), Suvidha (Facilitation), Suraksha (Safety), Sahyog (Cooperation), Samrachanam (Infrastructure Development) and Safai (cleanliness). ‘Safe and Honourable Tourism’ aims to strengthen the critical pillar of ‘Suraksha’ (Safety) and ensure that Indian tourism follows international standards of safe tourism practices, applicable for both tourists and local residents i.e., local people and communities who may be impacted by tourism in some way. Its central objective is to ensure that tourism activities are undertaken, integrating the need to protect the dignity, safety and the right to freedom from exploitation of all tourists and local residents involved in or impacted by tourism. In today’s scenario, following safety guidelines is not just about adhering to the provisions of the seven pillars but also implies good business. Recognizing that every earth resource is finite and fragile, we have further pledged to fully implement sustainable tourism practices, consistent with the best environment and heritage protection standards, such that our present tourism resource requirements optimize both local community benefit and future sustainable uses.

Our Commitment

It is our endeavour to make a positive contribution to the underprivileged and the environment by supporting a wide range of socio-economic, educational, health and eco-friendly initiatives. We are also in the process of making our offices & hotels completely “Green”. Our employees actively drive these community projects. As a part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, to address these societal needs, our philanthropic outreach programs have been extremely successful.

Future

Our aim is to take this new beginning to greater heights. Our goal this year is to increase the number of projects & the number of responsible travellers to 500. We are very convinced that in years to come this segment of responsible travellers will increase exponentially.
