Sarnath: Only 10 km from Varanasi, was here that Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon after attaining enlightenment. It is also known for the magnificent stupas erected in the third century BC by the Mauryan Emperor.
Ashoka who inspired by Buddha’s teachings gave up warfare and embraced the path of non-violence.
