Delhi / Day 01 - 02
On arrival at Delhi airport you will be met and greeted by our representative & transfer to your hotel. Delhi has been the seat of power of several empires for about a millennium. It has been destroyed and rebuilt many times, and interestingly, a number of its destroyers have also been its rulers. Delhi today is a potpourri of two distinct cultural lineages—Old Delhi and New Delhi. Juxtaposed against the immaculately planned New Delhi created by the British Raj, Old Delhi, which was once the capital of Islamic India, is a labyrinthine network of lanes and by lanes with crumbling havelis and formidable mosques. Enjoy half day excursion trip to Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary. It is situated around 20 kms (40 minute drive) from Gurgaon (NCR). Enjoy a nature trail of around 03 Km in length which runs around the lake. Some of the common birds one can sight are Avocet, Black winged Stilt, Black necked Crane, Common Pochrad, Greater Flamingo, Grey Heron etc. In the afternoon enjoy short city tour of New Delhi, you will drive past President Palace and India Gate (42m high), built to commemorate the 70,000 Indian soldiers who died in the 1st world war. Also visit the Humayun’s Tomb, built by his wife Haji Begum in the 16th Century. An early example of Mughal architecture considered the predecessor of the Taj Mahal. The elements in its design - a squat building, lighted by high arched entrances, topped by bulbous dome and surrounded by the char bagh (garden divided into quadrants), water channels and fountains.
Chambal / Day 04 - 05
After breakfast, drive to National Chambal Sanctuary. This is a lovely destination for great birding. The National Chambal Sanctuary was set up in 1979 as a riverine sanctuary along an approximately 425 km length of the Chambal River and its ravines stretching over 2-6 km wide along the river, Chambal supports 8 rare turtle species out of the 26 found in the country. Chambal is one of the cleanest rivers in the country and supports more than 320 resident and migrant birds. After breakfast, drive about 10 km to the Chambal River for a boat cruise in the morning to see the Indian Skimmer, black-bellied tern, bar-headed goose and other waterfowl. The area is also known for Gangetic dolphin, 5 species of turtles, marsh and fish-eating crocodiles etc. Proceed for afternoon birding, with a guide around for special Nature Walks along the river banks, around the ravines and in the fields surrounding the National Chambal Sanctuary.
Agra – Bharatpur / Day 05
After breakfast drive to Bharatpur, en-route visit Agra. Agra stands on the right bank of the river Yamuna, was once the seat of the Mughal rulers, the zenith of art and an enshrined romance. A town famous for its beautiful medieval monuments, the passion of the Mughals for building endowed it with some of the loveliest buildings in the world. Upon arrival visit Taj Mahal (Closed on Fridays) a poignant poetry in marble, stands serene and awesome on a raised marble platform, by the banks of the Yamuna. After visit continue drive to Bharatpur. Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary or Keoladeo Ghana National Park was established in 1956. This 29 sq km marshland is one of the finest bird sanctuaries in the world with over 360 species of birds, out of which 117 are the local birds. Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, it used to be a part of the private shooting reserve of the Maharaja of Bharatpur.
Bharatpur / Day 06 - 07
Enjoy birding with a guide in the wetlands of Keoladeo National Park. These diverse habitats are home to 366 bird species, 379 floral species, 50 species of fish, 13 species of snakes, 5 species of lizards, 7 amphibian species, 7 turtle species, and a variety of other invertebrates. The Sanctuary is one of the richest bird areas in the world. It is known for nesting of its resident birds and visiting migratory birds including water birds. According to Sir Peter Scott Keoladeo Sanctuary is the world’s best bird area. Among many bird species that can be seen here are egrets, storks, ducks, Chinese coots, kingfishers, spoonbills, sarus cranes and several birds of prey, including falcon, marsh harrier and eagle. There are also chital, Nilgai, deer, wild cats, hyenas and wild boar whilst near the entrance there are usually some very large rock pythons. During November to February the northern hemisphere migratory birds visit the park from China, Europe and Siberia, including the rare Siberian Crane.
Uchagaon / Day 08
After breakfast drive to Unchagaon. Fort Unchagaon is a living witness of ancient glamour and valour. It was inherited by the present Raja Surender Pal Singh at the age of ten. The young prince put substantive effort to develop and maintain this ancestral property. Upon arrival transfer to hotel, check-in to hotel.
Jim Corbett / Day 09
After breakfast drive to Jim Corbett National Park. Corbett is one of the finest National Parks in India. The core area of the park covers an area of 500 sq. km. and comprises the broad valley of the Ramganga River in the foothills of the Himalayas. This has resulted in great habitat diversity and given the park scenic charm and some magnificent sub-mountain and riverine views. One can see Himalayan animals along with numerous other animals and flora of peninsular India. The park was established in 1936 and later renamed after Jim Corbett, who spent many years in this area and wrote the book, The Man Eaters of Kumaon. The park has always been noted for its tigers and it was here that the prestigious ‘Project Tiger’ was launched in 1973. The wildlife of the park includes tiger, leopard, jungle cat, Asiatic elephants, and a variety of deer including muntjac (barking deer), spotted deer and hog deer. The park has a spectacular avifaunal diversity. Over 500 species of resident and migratory birds have been recorded in and around the park.
Jim Corbett National Park / Day 10 - 11
Enjoy morning & afternoon game drive in the national park. During the Safari you will drive down to the river, to look for various mammals, the long snouted fish eating Gharial and Marsh Crocodiles. With the possibility of seeing 05 species of Kingfishers, Pallas & Himalayan Grey-headed Fishing Eagles, Osprey, and Crested Serpent Eagle, the Safari is truly magical. Other bird species that can be seen here are Plum-headed & Red-breasted Parakeets, Black-rumped & Himalayan Flameback, Great Slaty Woodpecker, Dark-throated Thrush, Crested Tree Swift, Crimson & Purple Sunbird, Scarlet & Long-tailed Minivets, White-crested Laughing thrush, Mountain & Changeable Hawk Eagle, Oriental Honey Buzzard, Crested & Ashy Bulbuls, Tickell's Blue & Paradise Flycatcher, Corbett special "Collared Falconet", Small Blue & Himalayan Kingfisher, Pallas's Fish Eagle, Long-tailed Minivets, Lesser Racket-tailed Drongo, Changeable Hawk Eagle, Green Magpie etc.
Delhi / Day 12 - 13
After breakfast drive to Delhi, upon arrival in Delhi and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day is free at leisure. Onward journey.
