Rishikesh / Day 10

In the morning drive to the neighbouring holy town of Rishikesh, abode of the ashrams and the spiritually inclined. You will visit the ashrams, ghats, temples and will have a closer look at the Sanatan Dharma or Hinduism and its practices. After the sightseeing drive back to Haridwar. Overnight at Haridwar.

In the morning transfer to the railway station to take a train to Delhi. In the afternoon enjoy the temple tour. You will visit the Laxmi Narayan Temple, one of the biggest Hindu Temple in Delhi. Agra – Delhi / Day 12 - 13

Early morning, take the train to Agra to visit Taj Mahal (1631-1653), a poem in white marble, built by Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Also visit Agra Fort (Fort and Palace) situated on the west bank of the river Jamuna. Later, drive back to Delhi. Overnight in Delhi. Onward Flight.

Delhi / Day 1 - 2
Arrive in Delhi and transfer to the hotel. Spend the day sightseeing in Delhi at monuments and buildings of national importance like the Red Fort, Jama Masjid and India Gate. Later visit Humayun’s Tomb, and the Qutub Minar, the highest sands stone minaret in the world (73 meters). Today, you will already get a peek into the diversity of different cultural backgrounds that India is made of. Overnight in Delhi.
Amritsar / Day 3 - 4
Arrive in Amritsar by train. Check into the hotel and then use the day at leisure for shopping or stepping out. The sightseeing of Amritsar comprises a visit to the Golden temple, one of the holiest of Sikh shrines. The complex has important edifices such as the Akal Takht and the Harmandir Sahib and the holy pond surrounding it. Also in Amritsar is the Jallian Wala Bagh - infamous for the massacre that took place here under British rule. In 1919 General Dyer personally led the troops to this walled ground and ordered his men open fire on a group of peaceful protestors. At the east end of the garden there is a large memorial built in memory of those who died here. Later this afternoon, visit the Wagah Border - the international border between India and Pakistan where the pomp and pageantry of the Beating Retreat & Change of Guard ceremonies make for a most charming spectacle. Overnight in Amritsar.
Dharamsala / Day 5 - 6
After breakfast, drive to Dharamshala. It has monasteries representing all the three important sects of Buddhism. This is the right place indeed to get introduced to one of the most popular religions of the world. Upon arrival in Dharamshala, check in at the hotel. Overnight at Dharamsala. After breakfast, visit all the monasteries in McLeod Ganj and the famous residence of Noble Laureate Dalai Lama. Dharamsala is divided into two distinct parts: lower Dharamsala with the civil and business area with courts and Kotwali bazar and the second, upper Dharamshala with Mcleod Ganj and Forsyth Ganj. Visit the Tibetan Norbulinga Institute where Tibetans learn to paint the Thangkas, stitch garments and craft articles of wood. The museum close by is equally interesting. Thereafter visit to the Tibetan Astro institute, with its college, the library and the unique museum. Overnight at Dharamsala.
Kangra Pragpur / Day 7
After breakfast drive through the lush green Kangra valley to Himachal’s first Heritage Village, Paragpur. Enroute visit Jwalamukhi, where a flawless blue flame has been burning for ages through fissures in the old rocks. In the evening stroll through the cobbled pathways of Paragpur village to its ornamental pond and a bazaar famous for block paintings and silversmiths. Overnight at Pragpur.
Chandigarh / Day 8
After breakfast drive to Chandigarh. En-route visit Chintpurni, a holy spot for Hindus. Chandigarh - the 1st planned modern city of India designed by the French architect Le Corbusier - serves as the capital of both Punjab and Haryana. The city is highly developed and modern, divided into various sectors and has well-laid roads lined with rows of trees and beautifully planned buildings. In the afternoon visit the Rock Garden. This unique garden consists of art objects fashioned from industrial and urban waste: rocks, boulders, broken chinaware, discarded fluorescent tubes, broken glass bangles, building waste, coal and clay. The layout of the Garden is based on the fantasy of a lost kingdom. An unpretentious entrance leads to a variety of doorways, archways, vestibules, streets and lanes of different scales and dimensions, each one opening into a new chamber. Overnight in Chandigarh.
Haridwar / Day 9
After breakfast drive to Haridwar – the gateway to the Gods. Haridwar is situated on the banks of the Holy River Ganges dotted with Ancient Temples and Ashrams. Evening we converge at Har Ki Pauri to witness the Spectacular Evening prayer on the banks of the Ganges. All the temples in the vicinity come alive with the evening prayer and as you see hundreds of Hindus line up to watch and be part of this prayer and as well one sees basket of flowers in the shapes of small boat with burning candles in hundreds flowing down the river. It is one of the most remarkable sights to be ever seen in this part of India. Overnight in Haridwar.
Rishikesh / Day 10
In the morning drive to the neighbouring holy town of Rishikesh, abode of the ashrams and the spiritually inclined. You will visit the ashrams, ghats, temples and will have a closer look at the Sanatan Dharma or Hinduism and its practices. After the sightseeing drive back to Haridwar. Overnight at Haridwar.
Delhi / Day 11
In the morning transfer to the railway station to take a train to Delhi. In the afternoon enjoy the temple tour. You will visit the Laxmi Narayan Temple, one of the biggest Hindu Temple in Delhi. A big industrialist Mr. Birla built it about 50 years ago. It showcases almost all Gods worshipped by Hindus. Later visit a Sikh temple, Bangla Sahib Gurudwara. This is another religion started in 15th century by great sufi saint Guru Nanak. In the end visit Bahai temple. This is a new religion in India. There is one Bahai temple in every continent. In Asia, it is in Delhi. It is made in white marble and resembles shape lotus hence also called Lotus Temple. Overnight in Delhi.
Agra – Delhi / Day 12 - 13
Early morning, take the train to Agra to visit Taj Mahal (1631-1653), a poem in white marble, built by Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Also visit Agra Fort (Fort and Palace) situated on the west bank of the river Jamuna. Later, drive back to Delhi. Overnight in Delhi. Onward Flight.
