Holi Festival Tour

09 Nights /10 Days

Overview

Holi – the festival of colors is one of the most popular festivals of the country. Holi festival has an ancient origin and celebrates the triumph of ‘good’ over ‘bad’. The colorful festival bridges the social gap and renews sweet relationships. On this day, people hug and wish each other. Spraying colors, dancing on traditional Holi songs, rhythmic drum beats and wild processions are the common scenes that one comes across during this festival.  The legend of Holi starts with Lord Krishna, who was jealous of his soul mate Radha’s fair complexion, as he himself was very dark. Young Krishna complained to his mother Yashoda about this prejudice of nature, and to placate him, his doting mother asked Krishna to apply colour on Radha’s face and change her complexion according to his choice. The playful and mischievous Krishna complied, thus heralding the popular tradition of applying colours which became the festival of Holi.

Zip lining in India

Overview

Imagine sliding down a long rope, attached by a harness, across a mountain, lake or over treetops and forts. This is what zip lining sums up to be.  It is essentially an aerial runway that consists of a pulley suspended on a cable. This is usually made of stainless steel and is mounted on a slope, so the person can slide down. The thrill of jumping off the last point so that you glide down the zipline is one of the most thrilling parts of zip lining. India has a host of backdrops to the zip lining adventure. Thick forests, lakes and palaces are a few of them. You can zipline across Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur, over treetops in Punjab, the frothing river in Rishikesh, still waters of a dam in Bhopal and in Uttarakhand with a sweeping view of the mountains. In Meghalaya, the Dawki River becomes the stunning spectacle as the zip-liner glides over its shimmering waters.

Top Places

The top destinations in India for zip lining are Mehrangarh Fort, Neemrana Fort, Kikar Lodge, Over Dawki River, Shivpuri in Rishikesh, Orsang and the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti region in Uttarakhand. Write to us at tours@indoasia-tours.com for detailed program.

Highlights

Zip lining essentially means that one is strapped on well in a harness and clamped on a stainless steel rope that is fastened on two high points on edges. Think mountaintops, cliffs and trees. The zip liner just needs to sit on the harness as one would sit on a chair and zoom down. One is propelled ahead with their own weight and if you stop in the middle, just monkey climb your way.

Ballooning in India

Overview

If you’re looking to explore a city through the sky, there is no better and relaxing way than ballooning. Soar high over the skies of and see the patchwork of fields or lego like cities below you. Ballooning is one of the best ways to also get unique perspectives of photographing a city. Many cities like Jaipur, Agra, Lonavala, Ranthambore and off Delhi locations are now catching up to the rather safe and sedate adventure, which appeals to a large composition of both the old and young.  While the activity makes you fly high in the sky, it is not a typical adventure activity with sudden spurts of Adrenalin. This is consistent and calming.

Top Places

There are more than six regions in India where one can enjoy ballooning. Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, National Capital Region, Uttar Pradesh and Goa are the key destinations where one can try this. In fact Agra has been hosting Taj Balloon Festival as well.
