Arrive in Bangalore and step out at leisure to discover the modern IT hub of India. Overnight at hotel.
Mysore / Day 2 - 3
Drive till Mysore, the cultural capital of the state of Karnataka. We arrive early enough so that you can catch a glimpse of its rich culture, heritage, glorious history, and breathtaking tourist sites apart from the genial and hospitable people. Overnight stay at hotel. After breakfast visit Chamundi Hills, which is named after the Goddess of Mysore "Goddess Chamundi". It is believed that through her meditation the Goddess protects the well being of the town below. She is an incarnation of Parvati (consort of Shiva), who killed the demon Mahishasura. Thus bringing peace to the country (Mysore is named after her). Later visit Maharaj Palace, once a seat of the government; the Maharaja's palace in Mysore is the epitome of grandeur and extravagance that was during the British Raj. In 1897 the old wooden palace was completely burnt down in a fire mishap during the princess's marriage. So a new palace had to be built to match the royal stature of the Wodeyars of Mysore who had succeeded in making Mysore state, the model state of British India.
Hassan / Day 4
After breakfast drive to Hassan. On arrival check in at the hotel. In the afternoon visit temples in Halebidu and Belur. The Hoysalesvara Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva at Halebidu is perched on a star-shaped base. Every centimeter of the outside wall of this temple and much of the interior is covered with an endless variety of Hindu deities, sages, animals and birds.
A few kilometers further we reach Belur. The religious capital of Hoysala, visit the ornamental gopuram of the Chennakesava Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, which appears unexpectedly around a bend. It took 103 years to complete. Overnight stay at hotel.
Coorg / Day 5
After breakfast drive to Coorg. Misty hills, lush forest, acres and acres of tea and coffee plantation, orange groves, undulating streets and breathtaking views are what makes Coorg an unforgettable holiday destination.
Enroute visit of Bylekuppe, which is famous for its Tibetan settlement. Most notable amongst the many monasteries here are the educational monastic institution Sera, the smaller Tashilunpo monastery (both in the Gelukpa tradition) and Namdroling monastery (in the Nyingma tradition). On arrival check in at the hotel. In the late afternoon meet with your Team Leader. Today you can see your bikes & have the first test ride of these bikes. The Team Leader will brief the group regarding the technical aspect of the bikes - this session will include briefing regarding safety, dos/don’ts, road conditions, rules & regulations, etc. After the introduction and briefing you will have an opportunity to ride your bikes to get used to your bike for the rest of the tour.
Bhagamandala / Day 6
After breakfast at around 8 am, proceed to Baghamandala (880 Meters) by bicycle. The ride will be through coffee & pepper plantations and rice fields. Bhagamandala is situated at the confluence of two rivers, Kaveri and Kanika. A third river, the Sujyothi is said to join from underground. Baghamandala is a temple town and a Holy place for South Indians. At about 4 pm visit temple & at 7 pm witness the Pooja (religious ceremony) at temple. Dinner & overnight stay at a lodge.
Virajpet / Day 7
After breakfast, take a ride of about 52 kms & pass through coffee plantation, rice fields at Nelji (920 Meters). Visit Igguthappa Temple, located at about 0.25 kms from main road. Overnight stay in lodge at Virajpet (930 Meters).
Kutta / Day 8
Post breakfast, ride 42 kms crossing coffee plantations, rice fields and reserve forests. Reach Kunda Junction – Kunda Betta (850 Meters) , a beautiful trekking spot. Overnight stay in lodge at Hukikeri or Kutta (850 / 910 Meters).
Balale / Day 9
Today will be 50 Kms cycling through the plantations & forests of Srimangala. Visit Irupu falls, 7 kms from the main road. The Shiva temple here is said to have been dedicated by Lord Rama himself on the banks of River Lakshmanatheertha, a tributary to the river Cauvery. This place is believed to cleanse one's sins and is visited by thousands of devotees from far places on Shivaratri day. There is temple dedicated to Sri Ram, surrounded by paddy fields, from where it is a climb up to the falls through natural forest. Ride another kilometer & reach Rajeev Gandhi National park. Overnight stay in lodge at Balale (840 Meters).
Gonikoppal / Day 10
Today Wake up to a beautiful morning and after breakfast ride 28 kms through the plantations, villages and reserve forests. Ride through the small town of Gonikoppal. Visit Umamaheshwari Temple & orange processing unit at Gonikoppal. Overnight stay in lodge/hotel at Gonikoppal (860 Meters).
Siddapura / Day 11
After breakfast ride 30 kms through plantations, paddy fields and forests. Reach the interesting town of Siddapur (950 Meters). Continue through the orange country & end your cycling of the day at Karadikode. If you are lucky you’ll be able to spot elephants along the route. Overnight stay in lodge/hotel at Siddapura.
Kushalnagar / Day 12
Ride through the plantations and rice fields to reach Kushalnagar (850 Meters). Enroute pass by Nisargadhama. Nisargadhama is a 25 acre island formed by river Kaveri with bamboos, teak, sandalwood trees, streams and wild life. At Nisargadhama one can find deer, elephants, peacocks and some other wild animals if lucky. Nisargadhama is also famous for its hanging bridge which connects the island and helps travellers to cross the Cauvery River. Visitors can enjoy boating, elephant rides and swimming apart from just watching Nisargadhama's natural beauty. Overnight stay in hotel at Kushalnagar.
Madikeri / Day 13
After the beautiful morning & leisurely breakfast, ride about 30 kms through interesting vegetation & plantations. Visit Harangi Dam constructed across a small stream in the forest of Dubare across a tributary of River Kaveri. You also visit the Dubary elephant camp, where you can feed and bathe the elephants. Dinner & overnight stay at Madikeri.
Bangalore / Day 14 - 15
With the cycling trip having ended, drive to Bangalore on this day. Onward flight.
