Overview

This itinerary is focussed on trailing the Bengal tiger in one of the most beautiful habitats in the world- the mangroves forests of India and Bangladesh. The thrill is as much in seeing the tiger, as it is in the unconventional way to pot them – from a boat in the water, peering through the thick bushes. The expected jungle safari with jeeps is not the tenor of the trip. You also get to see life on the river at close quarters.

Dhaka / Day 01

Arrival in Dhaka and transfer to your hotel. This day is kept for relaxation and sightseeing in Dhaka city including Sadarghat, National Parliament building (outside), Dhakeshwari temple, Dhaka University campus and other historically important edifices.

Khulna – Sundarbans / Day 02

Early breakfast at the hotel and checkout. Transfer to the domestic airport to catch the morning flight for Jessore (45 mins flight). We report early at Millennium Park, Kolkata for surface transfer to the ‘Mangrove Land’, the Sunderbans. We pass the stunning countryside enroute. Sudhayanakhali / Day 08

Sudhanyakhali is a place famous for its watchtower and wildlife sighting. We visit a typical Sunderban village for an interaction with the villagers, to experience their life style. Later, there is a visit to Nethidopani watchtower or Boni camp watchtower. Netidhopani has the ruins of a 400-year-old temple and legends lend mystery to the atmosphere.

Lothian Island / Day 09

On this day we walk through the Lothian Island, a thick mangrove forest. This offers sighting opportunities of a lot of birds. We visit the Bhagavatpur crocodile farm too. Dhaka / Day 01
Arrival in Dhaka and transfer to your hotel. This day is kept for relaxation and sightseeing in Dhaka city including Sadarghat, National Parliament building (outside), Dhakeshwari temple, Dhaka University campus and other historically important edifices.
Khulna – Sundarbans / Day 02
Early breakfast at the hotel and checkout. Transfer to the domestic airport to catch the morning flight for Jessore (45 mins flight). Upon arrival at Jessore, we drive to Khulna (2.5hrs drive), and transfer to our cruiser M. V. BHELA / M. V. DINGHY. Lunch will be served on the boat while we start cruising towards the Sundarbans forest. Overnight at Dhaingmari
Sundarbans / Day 03 - 04
We leave early morning for Kotka Wildlife Sanctuary and arrive by afternoon. In the late afternoon, we hike in the forest area to see the wildlife and forest from a close range. Back to the boat in the evening. Overnight on boat at Kotka. Early in the morning we wend our way through small creeks and canals by a country boat to see the wildlife of the forest. After breakfast a jungle walk makes you trawl through dense copse that ends in a sandy beach. We get back on the boat by noon and start cruising towards Kochikhali Wildlife Sanctuary, and explore a little of it on foot in the early evening. A barbeque is planned at night on the boat. Overnight on the boat at Kochikhali.
Sundarbans – Bagerhat – Khulna / Day 05

After an early lunch, leave the Vessel at Mongla and drive to Bagerhat (45mins / 30km), to explore the Mosque City; 60-domed Mosque, Tomb of Khan Jahan (builder of the Mosque), 9-domed Mosque, Thakur’s Pond, etc. Then drive to Khulna for dinner & overnight at Hotel Khulna.
Khulna – Benapole – Kolkata / Day 06
After early breakfast at around 7:00 hrs transfer to Kolkata via Benapole land border.
Kolkata / Day 07
We report early at Millennium Park, Kolkata for surface transfer to the ‘Mangrove Land’, the Sunderbans. We pass the stunning countryside enroute. Next is a transfer to small boat to reach Cruiser M.V. Paramhamsa. After safety and tour briefing we take an extensive creek ride through the dense mangrove forest and visit a watchtower at Dobanke Canopy Walk and rehabilitation center.
Sudhayanakhali / Day 08
Sudhanyakhali is a place famous for its watchtower and wildlife sighting. We visit a typical Sunderban village for an interaction with the villagers, to experience their life style. Later, there is a visit to Nethidopani watchtower or Boni camp watchtower. Netidhopani has the ruins of a 400-year-old temple and legends lend mystery to the atmosphere.
Lothian Island / Day 09
On this day we walk through the Lothian Island, a thick mangrove forest. This offers sighting opportunities of a lot of birds. We visit the Bhagavatpur crocodile farm too. Bhagavatpur is a hatchery cum sanctuary of the biggest Estuarine Crocodile in the world. The next few hours are allocated to Namkhana, the Gateway to Sunderbans. Fish Market at the Fishermens' Cove and interaction with the fishermen are the highlights here. End of this day, the vessel sails to Kolkata passing through Diamond Harbour, Raichak etc.
Kolkata / Day 10 - 11
Arrival at Kolkata by morning. Onward Flight.
