At the moment, Bhutan has closed its International borders for all tourists. The land borders are only open for supply of essential items. As per the guidelines issued by the Bhutanese Government, the quarantine period is 21 days for Bhutanese nationals. In Bhutan, only relief and rescue flights are operating for stranded Bhutanese nationals who are stuck outside the country and, want to return home. Also, time to time cargo flights has been operating. Hotels are mostly closed since there is no tourist movement. However, they are working with a skeleton staff to handle future reservations. Mostly restaurants dependent upon tourists are closed at the moment. But, the other restaurants in the main cities like Thimphu, Paro, are open. Most of the establishments are open and working except for the junior schools which are closed at the moment. Most of the tourist sites are open and, though there are no outside tourist movements, they are open for locals. Retail stores open as per their usual timing but, the gathering of more than 15 persons are still not permitted at the moment. Public, as well as Private transport, is open and operational. Standard operating procedures are in progress and, the country is ready to adopt safety measures as announced by competent authorities. There is no local transmission of Covid-19 and zero fatality in Bhutan.
