Kerala announced that it is ready to receive tourists from outside the State. Hill stations, adventure tourism destinations, backwater destinations are all open for tourists with immediate effect. Houseboats can operate complying with the Covid guidelines. However, beaches will remain inaccessible for tourists until November 1.

While opening the State for tourists from other states, the government has decided to relax the entry norms. Tourists coming for holidaying for less than seven days in the State need not require quarantine nor carry negative Covid-19 certificates. However, they have to register on the Covid Jagratha portal. The State had earlier removed the mandatory quarantine for business visitors visiting the State for a week.

However, tourists who want to stay in the State for more than seven days have to carry a Covid negative certificate or undergo testing immediately after entering the State.

The government has also come out with strict Covid-19 guidelines for destinations, hotels, and tourists. The stakeholders have to keep the travelers’ record, and the destinations have to be sanitized and kept clean regularly. The government has given the responsibility to monitor strict compliance with Tourism deputy directors and Secretaries of the District Tourism Promotion Councils.

Announcing this, Kadakampally Surendran, Tourism Minister of Kerala, has said that the government has decided to open the State with strict compliance of the Covid protocol considering the constant demand of the tourism. The Minister said that the State’s exemplary record of accomplishment in fighting the pandemic and the robust health system would give travelers confidence to visit Kerala without hesitation.
