On September 24, 2018 Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Sikkim’s first and India’s 100th airport in Pakyong. The state-of-the-art airport is Northeast India’s first greenfield airstrip, which means it was constructed from undeveloped/empty fields from the scratch. Nestled among the clouds at 4,500 ft above the ground level, with a breathtaking view of the scenic Pakyong valley, the construction of this airport opens doors for Sikkim’s tourism.
With Pakyong Airport, tourists will now have a chance to experience the scenic valleys and the majestic Himalayas.
