During the unprecedented and challenging times of Covid-19 pandemic, Bhutan has been maintaining exemplary record from the very beginning and able to keep situation well under control. The following Covid statistics shows country’s successful handling of situation as of date:

Total confirmed cases: 2500

Recovered cases: 2275

Active cases: 223

Death: 2

Second round of vaccination drive started on 20th July, 21 and it’s a matter of great satisfaction that in a week time about 85% of eligible adult population have already received second dose of vaccine. Importantly, in order to achieve herd immunity Bhutan targets to vaccinate at least 80% of total population (total population – 7,56,129) so now the focus is on vaccination of 2,22,000 children those constitute about 29% of total population. With limited options available for children’s vaccine, government is exploring all possible steps to make vaccine available for children and achieve the target of herd immunity. The limited doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccine currently available in country are being used for children between age group 12 – 18 years, living in border towns of Phuentsholing & Samtse from where majority of Covid cases are reported.
