Authorities at Nagarahole Tiger Reserve are opening two additional safari centres to even out the rush. This is even as the demand to open a safari centre at Nugu in Bandipur Tiger Reserve is pending.

The two new safari centres will come up at Muttur and Anechowkuru, both located on the Mysore-Kodagu border.

The centres will be operational by the year-end, with foresters planning to operate two mini buses and four jeeps. The reserve already has three safari points.

A ground breaking ceremony to construct ticket counters was done recently. It has also developed 30 km of stretch in the forests for the safari -from Lingapura forest range till Anechowkur gate. This route will also cover tourist spots like Mavukalleshwara Betta, Jenukallu Betta and Bheemanare.
