You can make your next trip to Ladakh even more exciting. How, you ask? Now there are helicopter services made available for tourists to travel across the Union Territory of Ladakh.

This is a happy addition as now travel within the Union Territory will be much easier for those who may find the roads a little difficult to traverse. The subsidised rate helicopter service is run by the Ladakh administration and it will be for both local residents and visiting tourists.

As of now, the helicopter service is available for Leh, Drass, Kargil, Padum, Lingshed, Nyerak, and Zanskar. The service makes access to these areas more conducive and visitors will now have access to more areas in general.

To begin with, there are two choppers for this service – a five-seater B-3 chopper and a Mi-172 chopper.

All passengers are to carry their valid photo ID proof at the time of boarding; one will not be allowed to change passengers names once PNR is generated; there are weight restrictions for a safe flight, so passengers are expected to cooperate with the staff regarding this.

Visitors are also advised not to travel to high altitude areas before 48 hours from the time of arrival at Leh. This is done to acclimatise well.
