Maharashtra Tourism will be introducing the colonial carriages into Mumbai streets once again to charm the visitors and tourists to the city. In the first phase, 12 of these e-carriages will run at the city’s renowned landmarks such as the Gateway of India, Marine Drive and Nariman Point. The battery operated carriages will have GPS enabled audio guide facility.
The ‘Victoria 2.0’ e-carriages, as they are called, are being reintroduced into the city’s streets to give people another unique avenue to appreciate the beautiful colonial architecture and marvels of the city. . The carriage ride also promises to narrate the history of the city’s wonders.
The carriages with capacity to hold six pax are also equipped with a GPS Intelligent Proximity Triggering dynamic software that triggers multilingual commentary precisely at the right place and time. The carriages are operated by lithium-ion batteries which are eco-friendly and will operate from 4pm and 2am. They will have sanitisation stands and be cleaned after each ride, and everyone is expected to wear a mask on board as per the protocols.
