The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has come out with a draft National Air Sports policy (NASP) 2022 with the vision to make India one of the top destinations for air sports hubs in the world. As per an official release issued by the ministry recently, the policy seeks to leverage India’s potential for air sports and places a strong focus on ensuring international best practices in safety. The vision of the policy is to make India one of the top air sports nations by 2030.

The attempt through the dedicated policy framework is to promote the air sports sector by making the activity regulated to make it “safe, affordable, accessible, enjoyable and sustainable.” The key activities identified to be brought under the policy framework include air racing, aerobatics, aero-modelling, gliding, paragliding, micro-lighting and para-motoring, skydiving, etc.
